front tire
 

this seemed like a good spot for this i got a 99 f4 a few weeks ago and it may just be me but compared to my last bike the steering feels very loose it seems if i adjust or lean alittle i got to put alot more effort into keeping the handle bars straight. its got a 120 65 17 front tire but i found a gash in the side wall, sucks cause it looks pretty new so im gonna replace it befor i start ridin it. the stock size calls for 120 70 17 so what im wantin to know if the lower profile tire is makin steerin responce more sensitive if any one has had experiance with smaller tires chime in. i like the lower tire but if its gonna help steering feel ill go back to stock size.

I would go back to the stock size unless you know of a good reason why you shouldn't. Also, the compromised tire and wear pattern can really effect handling. If the tire is cupped at all, it can make a big difference, and sometimes cupping can be hard to see. Just a thought.
I would try a new tire and see how it feels.

yea it looks good but im prolly gonna go back to stock size i know the lower profile was done just to go with the flow of the bike but a 70 series isnt much bigger. im not plannin to tag it till next season so im gonna get 1 over winter along with front rotors cause they got some warp to them. my rear tires a continental conti sport so i was plannin on matchin the front with it unless i here there junk, this is only my second bike so i havent had lots of tire experiance in the 2 wheel sense.

I just put a 60 series tire on my bike(because I had a buddy that had a brand new one-$25. Couldnt pass it up. Plus I wanted to try the difference myself.) But I will let you know how it does the next couple of weeks. Wanna sell those swingarm exetensions you got on your bike?? If you do ever, hit me up. Nice bike too!

I asked a few different dealerships and they told me its fine for the street but not for the track because of the smaller sidewall.

thanks. no i love them extentions lol that 6'' makes the bike look so much better in my mind. let me know if the tire makes your steering feel looser if not ill stick wit the 65 cause it sure does look nice, i may just have to do alittle suspension tweekin. i got it all tuned up last week now im waitin on my frame sliders so i can put the fairings back on.
