COP(coil over plug),direct ignition anyone????

Hi im new to this forum and also new to CBRs (love them already tho) as i just picked one up a few days ago (1993 cbr 600 f2). now it may have something to do with my age (20) but im already looking to upgrade the performance of this sweet machine haha:icon_bike:

so here's the Q: i would love to run some type of coil on plug/direct ignition on this f2 has anyone ever looked into this (any info would help)?

now from what i understand the wiring from the stock 2 coils to 4 individual coils (ie cbr f4i coils) would be really easy. but would this in anyway hurt the stock f2 ignition control module??????????

not sure if im on the right track or not but i guess i comes down to coil impedance right???

hell just buy a f4 or f4i or newer bike any ways. haha jk. you can put a car coil on the bike. which one i dont know the f2's or f3's very well.but fzr 400 and 600 alot of us put zx2 coils on them. if you were to goto the trouble of installing and spending the money for direct ignition coils. i would say it isn't worth the effort unless you are really attached to the bike and will never sell it. you would have to update and mod everything in the electrical to handle the direct ignition coils.

+1 on Limpy.

More importantly, there are a LOT of other, cheaper, easier mods you can do that will net you MORE performance gain. Do those first, then see if you still want the direct ignition coils. It's an F2; don't think you're ever going to make it compete with an F4. Do what's cost effective, and leave the rest to the rich kids with too much time on their hands.

see but that's the thing this would be a cheap mod because i can get a set of coils for around $100 and that's all id really need to do this. well its clear to me that at some point ima just have to figure this out myself cuz ill prolly be the first to do this to a f2 hope it works out. O and by the way what would u recommend for cheap mods??? already have d&d slip on and supposedly a stage 2 jet kit

ZX2 coils. I am new to F2, I used to own an F4i, so I am going backwards here lol. But what is a ZX2 coil? Is that from the car? Is there a write up on this?
