Can I TURBO my '87 Hurricane ?
I was wondering how much work this would take... and what the appropriate turbo kit would intale... Im willing to do whatever.. just want to know if anyones done it and some tips if anyone has any.. thanks alot

The amount of work and money it would take....you'd be better off selling your bike and taking the extra money for the turbo and buying a liter bike.
|
That is the correct answer. You'd end up heavier than a liter bike and still lack a couple ponies.

for once I agree with just get the liter.
Turbos suck on bikes plain n simple. |

My old turbo Busa handled damn well in the twisties ... ohlins suspension with a modded out steering damper. 3+ on the front sprocket shortened wheelbase about 5/8" and 180/55 on the rear lifted the back end slightly. Very nice handling indeed.
But you are correct in that inappropriate throttle usage (especially over 3500 RPM) could stand you straight up and put you in a ditch real fast :icon_doh: |
Wouldnt turboing a carbed motor be useless and hard to tune .... since carbed motors suck fuel in by using vaccuum... so how does that work if you turbo a carbed motor....

anything is possible with time and money. just have to ask is it worth it. not really unless you'll never sell the bike
|
It's not that a turbo'd Busa can't handle the twisties; its that the riders can't. True, it's a drag bike and not for a super-curvy track, but a good enough rider can handle any situation with any bike, so long as they have time to practice and get used to the way it reacts.
