im just trying to get some info on whether or not i can convert the old 89 swing arm to lets say a 1997 600rr or new model swingarm.

They didn't make RR's in '97. Do you mean an F3 swingarm?

Why go to an F3? I can see an RR being a pain / too complicated. If you want something that looks good try an NT650 swingarm. I can give you measurements off mine. The sinlge sided look is better than an F3. No offense but can't just unbolt one and put another one on. I think the NT650 arm would be easier and look good.

I am very interested in this conversion what modifications would you need to do the swing arm or frame in order for this to fit?
