vortex sprockets on a 07 cbr 600 rr
Hi,
i have a 07 honda cbr 600RR, i am currently installing a vortex front sprocket ( 15 tooth) and a vortex rear sprocket (44 tooth) with a RK chain, my issue currently is that my new vortex sprocket does not fit flush on the drive, so my mounting bolt does not put any pressure on it to make it tight, i have a little bit of play, about 1/16th back & forth, my question is this normal ? am missing a washer? im installing the original washer on my bolt, but i still have play? can i make a shim for this? has anybody ever had this issue installing a vortex front sprocket? your input would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I recently changed my 01 F4i sprockets and I had the same issue with the front Vortex sprocket. I was looking on forums and such and I found that MANY front sprockets from different manufactures have a little bit of freeplay. I had my local garage replace the stock with an OEM replacment about 2 months ago and when i took that one off for this install it had some freeplay also.
I used a thin piece of sheet metal ( cut to size ) as a shim to cut down on the freeplay. If you can find a washer that is the correct size then i would throw it on. The freeplay causes some noise when riding but I really dont think there would be any harm. I also ride without the sprocket cover on so that might amplify the noise. I would say shim it and dont worry.
EDIT: My Vortex sprocket came all by itself, only the sprocket, there were no washers or other hardware.
