Track bike batteries
I have an F4i track bike. I am currently working on an undertail exhaust and new sub frame. I want to get rid of the big, stock battery because a) it is big and in the way. b) it is heavy and c) I dont think the bike needs that big of a battery, seeing as I dont have headlight, tail light, turn signals and stuff. Does anyone have a recommendation for a smaller battery? Something lighter and easier to locate? Maybe a solid one so it doesnt have to be oriented in a particular direction?
Thanks! |
The only thing I could recommend is going to walmart and buying a small lawn mower battery and use that.
however how much wieght are you really gonna save for the reduction in cranking amps? |
Well, it is not really the weight, it is mostly the size. I am doing an undertail exhaust and so I need some of the room that the battery is currently using to run my exhaust pipe. And also, cranking? I dont really care, it is track only, so if I cant get it to crank, I will just bump start, ha. I just want the battery to be enough to keep it running.

from here you can model your new subframe using the 1krr subframe measurements, the 1k rr has a undertail pipe so the battery box is placed to accommodate for that... |
they dont get much smaller ;)

Ok, cool, I will check out a 1000rr swingarm, never thought of buying the whole thing.

Check out these batteries here Motydesign.com. They are lithium A123 and are lighter and have more power then a regular battery. Also they look really small.

The motydesign ones are what most people use on racing bikes that I have seen. |
