Tell Me About The Power Commander
I read somehwere that a "power commander" might make my 2005 F4i more responsive between 3000 and 8000 rpm. The bike is so high strung that it seems almost under-powered until you hit 8000 rpm. BUT, when you hit 8-Gs you better by God be hanging on!!! I just ordered a 15 tooth front sprocket which will move the rpm's to a more reasonable speed. IE; the top end of 3rd gear should be more like 75 or 80 mph instead of just over 100 mph! For the type of riding I enjoy most I need lots of grunt between 50 and 90 mph. The smaller front sprocket will help a little. If what I read about the power commander is true it should be the perfect compliment, and make my bike flat out scream on the roads I routinely ride. So, tell me what ya know about this gizmo!
Boo Now I am editing my original post. I found the website, and was a bit surprised to see the $340 price tag. Can someone who has one of these goodies tell me why I should fork over that kind of change. I mean, it sounds great, but before I spend that much I need more than company propaganda to go on! Boo |
RE: Tell Me About The Power Commander
A power commander is basically an inline plug to the ECU, which tells the bike how to perform things like air intake and fuel injections. Unless you have a way tuned bike, like: intake, exhaust, etc... and want to get the most power out of all those mods, then get a power commander. If you dont really care, and your bike runs just fine now, then don't worry.

So, would this help with my decel pops? I've been wanting one just to smooth out my powerband.

Hmmm... Quick question??? In reading your post you said that the top end of 3rd gear you are just over a 100mph??? I was wondering because at the top end of 2nd gear right at redline my bike is at 97 or 98 mph.... |
RE: Tell Me About The Power Commander
yea it'll help with the popping...
it just adjusts for fuel input when you throttle it hard. |
RE: Tell Me About The Power Commander
yeah, you definately should be seeing way over 100 mph at redline in third. I think i see an indicated 138 mph in third

RE: Tell Me About The Power Commander
