Tech ?: Multiple rivet links in chain?

Hey all,

Switching my 2003 600RR over to a pretty much track-day only bike. Putting on a new chain and will likely play with the gearing throughout the track-day season. I have I good DID pro chain tool..that's not the issue. Just wondering if it's acceptable (or even preferred) to not rebreak the riveted master link and put a second riveted master in another place in the chain. I ask because at track, I'm thinking a well mushroomed rivet pin may be harder to push out than standard link without grinding the head off. In theory, a properly riveted master should be as strong as any other link correct?

Just curious what the opinions are. Thanks.

You're abslouted right... it's damn near impossible to pull a installed rivit link without grinding the head I've tried. In the past I've done 3 rivit links in the same chain with no issues and used it for a season. Now I keep many extra links, two chains and a air grind in case I have to swap at the track, but I usually know what gearing I'm going to be using so that usually doesn't happen.
