All right I have seen alot of you guys posting pics of your new FE and there istwo things that always bugged me about them. One the pipe and heat shield is totaly exposed or two they tried to cut the heat shield with snips and it looks all mangeled. I installed aCBR Heaven FE like most of you, butinstead of taking the whole brake mount offI modifiedit.


ONE- REMOVE THE BRAKE MOUNT FROM YOUR BIKE AND BRAKE LIGHTS.(YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE REARFENDER TO DO THIS)



TWO- I TAPED WHERE I WANTED TO CUT AND STARTED TO CUT.



THREE- I START SANDING FOR A GOOD ROUNDED CORNER WHERE I MADE THE CUT.
(I USED A AIR GRINDER AND SANDING ATTACHMENT)



THEN I STARTED TO PREP THE REST OF IT FOR PAINT.


NOW THIS IS WHAT I USED TO PAINT (ADHESION PROMOTER FOR A PRIMER, BLACK VINYL PAINT, THEN A RUBBING COMPOUND AT THE END TO GLOSSEN IT.



THIS IS IT AFTER PAINT.



THIS IS IT BACK ON THE BIKE.



DONE!!! CANT SEE THE HEAT SHIELD OR THE PIPE. NICE!!!!!!

 

Thats exactly what we did to my GFs 08 graffiti CBR.

 

Eh.. personally I think the whole stock tail is an abortion. The less on there, the better. If you have an aftermarket pipe, why not show it? I just think honda did too much with it this year, over complicated it if you will. Now most of us spend our time trying to put it back to the way it should be...

I lined the undertail of my bike with race grade firewall liner, not that aluminum adhesive tape that comes with a lot of stuff. The yellow bits you can see is the glue unfortunately, but you need a high temp stuff to hold it and its drys that color. Got to have some function over form at times.

ya know - its kinda funny - I mean....to each his own - but the same guy with the ugly bike came up with an ugly tail mod.

i guess its all about personal taste.

verticle - I'm about to do the same fe with my 07 - and i agree about the whole abortion piece - i guess since they tucked it up under the seat the might as well have flattned the pipe and covered it -

the yosh is sick - its nice to see it out there like that

 

im using the rizoma.. but i took the pieces that were silver, wet sanded them and painted them black, along with the exaust tip, i painted it black also..

all with 1400 degree heat paint.

looks alot better.

and man that paint doesnt look any better close up.
