Tail Light LED - seperating lense from housing?
Can anyone help me figure out how to get the lense and the housing seperated to install a new LED board? I realize now I should have got the whole thing as one piece, but I already bought this one.

I would try to help, but what exactly are you trying to do? If you are talking about the reflector and stock Plate housing, it is easier to take it off the bike(bolts under the tail). Then, you take out the two bolts on the back of the reflector, then they should come apart.

It looks like it's glued together, so it's gonna be tough. You'd have to really heat it up and pry it apart carefully

I got it apart today. Used a Dremel around the edge to get a clean cut. I'll replace the LED board and reseal it tonight. Thanks for the help.
Advice to others: buy the whole tail light, not just the LED board to put inside. |

Seal it back up with clear silicone (you can get it at any autoparts store). I saw someone do it with hot glue once.....and my reply was........."what happens when the exhaust heats the glue back up?"......Then I got a blank look. *he was confused*.:D
