short or long levers?

My brother laid down my '06 600RR and bent the clutch lever, so I'm looking to get a new set of levers. I'm planning on taking my bike to the track a lot next season and was wondering which are better for that, short or long ones? Or if it really matters aside from the look? Also, what are good names to buy them from?

what do you prefer?

I prefer long levers. CRG makes foldable levers that resist snappage, but they aren't cheap. very trick levers though.

just drill a hole or two near the end of your stock levers and they'll snap rather than bend, problem solved
I like stock levers myself and definitely can't justify spending the $ just for expensive levers

i dont think the length matters as long as the position is right. i only use the inner part of the lever since i dont ride with my hands all the way to the outside. i like to keep my hands close to the other functions (signals, horn, headlight). CRG makes some pretty good levers, especially if your bro is the one paying for it. while you're at it, have him buy you a new fairing and invest in some sliders.

all opinions aside it depends on your riding style.....do you use 2 fingers or 4 fingers when you clutch and brake? if you use 2.....then get shorty levers......if you use 4, well then shorty levers aren't for you. as for performance. they make no difference aside from saving you .1 ounces of weight and nobody is good enough to have that make any kind of a difference in their riding

Problem is his lever is already bent, but that's a good suggestion for future references.

CRG or Pazzo make good levers.

my brother would have been beaten like a red-headed stepchild if he did that to my bike

It's really down to personal preference.
I run Shorties, Pazzo's on the CBR & CRG's on the Duc, Both are top quality and you can't go wrong.
I like the shorties because the don't stick out as far as far, making them "slightly" less susceptible to damage during a crash.

I am typically a 2 finger breaker, but even with shorties I can still wrap 4 fingers around them with no problems.

I use the factory size with the clamp moved about 1" closer to the tree so I can one/two finger it but, still have max leverage.
