Default Please help!

Hey guys,
So recently I have purchased a 2006 Honda CBR600RR. When I purchased the bike (since this was my first purchase and I didn't know any better), the seller told me that the bike odemeter reads 23000 miles on it even though the bike itself has 5000. He said this was due to the sprocket change which threw off the odemeter. I thought I had gotten a good deal on it so I purchases it till I got a hold of his paper work which shows he purchases the bike at 23000. Just curious, I have done some reasearch, including reading some of the forums here, and I am starting to believe that a sprocket change can through off the odemeter the most 15% off. I know I have been zipped, but just curious as to is this really possible?? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys ahead of time.

Yep, you just got back door violated. That really sucks man. From what I understand either this guy just plain out lied to you or he bought the bike and never rode and that's what the guy he bought it from told him. Just to show you how ridiculous that is I did the math. With the stock front sprocket on it, it would have needed a 207 tooth rear sprocket on it the entire time to make that differance! I wish I had the motivation to do some photoshoping right now that would look hilarious!

I'll give you a break on the ridicule since you got shlt on. I would go confront this a$$hole about it and if he trys to jew you some more, kick his a$$!!

I think Rossy covered it. Seller lied to you. Sorry you were taken. There's a reason the saying "BUYER BEWARE" exists. Sounds like he flipped the bike...ie. bought it on the cheap & sold it to you for a profit.

All is not lost though. If the bike is in good condition, 23k isn't a drawback. Just make sure everything maintenance-wise w/ the bike is the way it should be. Then, chaulk up the the situation as a learning experience & go ride.

Default Thanks

Ha he screwed my pooch on that one, he lied telling me that the bike has never been in a accident but then one of my freinds who has more experience with bikes showed me that it, the metal part that holds the mirrors has been welded back together. Thank you guys for all the info, and thanks no ripping me another one on top : ). I'm thinking about taking him to court because including myself, I had four witness total that says that he sold the bike to me under false pretense.

You really don't have any leg to stand on in court.

Just chalk it up as a learn experience.

welcome bro, take some time and look over the site controls, you have posted a new thread on top of another, if you really want to you could cut open your case to remove baffle, but i would not, youll be playing with the tune of your bike and poor performance will result, leave it alone till you can find somthin good at a good price. peace
