HID INSTALL

OK so I finally did my long awaited HID install. I bought the kits a few months ago, and they just sat in my garage until I had a rainy day and a few hours to do it. Big plus one to BlueFox, as his write up was not a direct fit to my install as he used an 06 and I have an 07, the technique and visuals definitely helped. It took me a while to get it all done, as there is much less room in the front of the 07. I installed the ballasts on top of the air box/ecu and then ran the wiring through the sides of the fenders into the housing. It came out real clean, and the extra light is amazing. You can really see it when you are next to another bike with halogens. Ok, for the fun part...
naked and waiting Attachment 72089 ballast location (I covered them in thin foam and electrical tape to prevent rattle and impact damage) Attachment 72090 HID lowside, stock highside... what a difference Attachment 72091 almost done Attachment 72092 the only light source in this picture is the lowside hid, its midnight the garage door is down, holy balls. RE: HID INSTALL
Holy balls is right...........HID is by far one of the best modifications I've done yet. I just installed my 3rd one on my 07 a few days ago. The first one was the slim ballasts.........and I didn't like how dim they were compared to the large ballast kits. So I ordered a 6000k VisionPro kit with the large ballasts (thinking that more money would equal a better kit)...........but no, still not the color or brightness I wanted. So finally, I went back to the eBay store I bought my other kits from and ordered a 5000k large-ballast HID kit that was under $100 bucks shipping. BINGO! PERFECT color (pure white with a VERY slight hint of blue) and a BRIGHT ass white on the road surface. Seem that the more expensive HID kits really aren't that much better. That VisionPro kit set me back almost $190 bucks ON SALE from $299 and the cheap eBay kit outperforms AND doesn't flicker nearly as much as the more expensive kit.
So lesson to everyone..........large-ballast HID kits are brighter, and cheaper really is better. (in my instance anyway........even though I went with the most expensive "cheap" kit they had) Looks good though man, the blue-ish HID's against the blue paint is BANG ON perfect with that bike. |

RE: HID INSTALL
I actually picked those kits up at the NY auto show. Some punks had a booth set up with tons of kits and I got both of them for 150 cash. Honestly though they are great kits and were very easy to install, and the ballasts were small. I think the URL is http://www.euroeffects.net/.
Thanks for the props red. ;) |
RE: HID INSTALL
I buy my HID kits here (a total of 7 kits from them so far installed on a few bikes and cars......and all of them are still working and functioning perfectly)
