RE: don't know wat air filter to run
Ive heard the same thing, that K&N are "bad" for the bikes but BMC is better
Anyone know why? that seems odd to me
I have a 2bro's CF slip and am looking at the Juicebox instead of the PC3-
Ive heard that some say its best to just stay with the stock filter..
who knows...

well looking at the K&N by the stock filter and the BMC, the surface area for airflow is much smaller....so it is impossible that it could breathe better....
the reason why they say stock is better is because our bikes are tuned within very small specs and to throw on a filter that will dramatically adjust the fuel/air ratio will cause a performance dip....that being said, the bikes are tuned according to a clean stock filter...nothing else....now...if an aftermarket can breathe a little easier, it would be best to get a tune to compensate....i would never get a tune to compensate for a worse fuel/air ratio as alleged with the K&N...but the BMC supposedly breathes easier and adds some performance...from what i understand, the street doesn't "need" a tune...but i personally would STILL get one...or even just a map for a BMC filter as i am sure it changes things at least slightly...
the BMC race is much more breathable substantially changing the air/fuel ratio and supposedly REQUIRES a tune to compensate for it...
hope that all makes sense....if you need more info let me know...there are sites that compare these things

ok..so i went back and read that artical again a little more in depth. uhh idk wat to say. some very interestin info like i said b4 and i understood most of it. i was a little confused however on the first part. i didn't know if the author was speakin about a carbed bike or fi cuz i'm sure that could make a diference. all in all i jus dont' wanna drop somethin in my bike because it sounds coo and as for this article and others input the pc3, slip on, and filter set up DOESN"T sound all that great well at least money wise. obviously if airflow is gunna be altered the bike should def' be tuned to conpensate. but is that set up even nessary as it may not add exactly wat i'm lookin for
