Can't get it up!!!!
I want to make my bike easier to wheelie. I'm 5'11" 216 and I want to go with new sprockets. Will -1 +2 be enough to power up or should I go more? A friend of mine went -1 +6 on his 03 or 04 ninja 636. I don't know if the stock gears are the same as my 600rr but that sounds like a lot.

RE: Can't get it up!!!!
stock is already enough to power it up...i think you should get your timing down better.
-1 will do it for you...-1 +2 will come up real easy...poor RR...make sure you take her to the track and not all this wheelie stuff which she was not made for! |
RE: Can't get it up!!!!
Don't get me wrong, just want to wheelie every once in a while and I would love to go to the track but don't think there are any tracks around the bay area in FL.

RE: Can't get it up!!!!
I you want it to wheelie "easier" and still want to ride it on the freeway then go with -1/+2. If you want to ride it to your local deserted business park parking lot to stunt ride, getting there only on city street and not going over 45 - 50mph then go up to what ever you want on the back.

ORIGINAL: rubberband man Can someone explain what -1 +2 means as far as sprockets... i am a little uneducated when it comes to suspension.... thanks so -1 +2 means dropping by 1 tooth in the front and increasing by 2 teeth in the rear sprocket. so it's all gearing...and nothing to do with suspension. get it? got it? good! |

RE: Can't get it up!!!!
-1 in front is equal to about +3 in the rear....I did what are are thinking about but just went -2 up front...only $22 and a 15 min mod beginning to end. That way if going to do a track day can throw stock gearing back on...I have a -1 also just depending what riding going to do....the -2 is HUGE....not only for 'getting it up"...but also just acceleration off the line....I thought I needed a 1000RR until did this....going up in the back has bennefits but couldn't change around gearing all the time and a LOT more cost involved.
I went PBI sprockets through dealer. |
