Battery comparison

Make this a sticky?

My own comparison: Which involves (stock 600rr) and batteries supposedly designed to work with said bike.

Stock Yuasa YTZ10S
A/Hr: 8.6
CCA (A): 190
Weight (lbs.): 7.0
Cost: $160.00
Pros:
Cons: Heavy, lead/acid designed in like 1800s

MOTY 8cell post
A/Hr: 4.6
CCA (A): 240
Weight (lbs.): 1.69
Cost: $150.00
Pros:Lightest battery of bunch, close to Ballistics though. 2nd Highest CCA.
Cons:Low A/Hr ratting(1/3 that of Shorai's and Ballistic). This will not allow you to run accessories easily. Might want to not wait too long with key in on position before you crank.

Shorai LFX14A4-BS12
A/Hr: 14
CCA (A): 210
Weight (lbs.): 1.99

Ballistic EVO2 8cell
A/Hr: 15

Make a note that earlier model Shorai batteries had really weak terminals. They have since revised their design. Another pro (or con if you're just looking for custom setup) is that Shorai batteries come in stock sizes there you don't need to cut the foam or whatever to make it fit properly in the battery tray.

Also, Ballistics supposedly use an older design cell which is basically what they use in cell phones n' such whereas Shorai batteries were designed specifically with the needs of powersports vehicles in mind.

Ballistics are good because they are tiny and they're awesome for battery relocation and because of their design, they can be mounted in any orientation (upside down, sideways, etc).

Cons for the dry cell batteries is you need to get a new charger/balancer as well and they haven't really been proven to last any longer than stock batteries yet.

Thanks for posting this. I have been trawling the internet looking for information on if it is ok to run a higher CCA battery on my '05 600rr and you've answered my query :)
