600RR exhaust mod

hey guys new to the forum, I sold my f3 and am picking up a mint 04 600rr black. I am wondering if there is a way to slide the exhaust in more so its not sticking out of the back as much. im looking at the jardine rt1 dual. i CAN tig weld so if its a option i could take a inch off the pipe under the seat. thanks

usually wha tpeople do is cut the pipe down. its really pretty east if you have a hand saw or whiz wheel or what ever to cut it

My old 03 cbr 600rr had a yoshimura full exhaust. I agree with you in the fact that my muffler stuck out to much also, I wanted the muffler to end right and the beginnig of the back of the brake light. I was able to slide mine in alittle, but the spring mounts kept it from going as far as i wanted.

It looks like the muffler slides onto the pipe and is held in place by springs. First i would unhook the springs that hold the muffler onto the pipe and slide the canister off. Next I would measure how far the spring reatainers are from the end of the pipe, then cut them off so you can reweld them where needed. I would cut alittle of the pipe off at a time till you like it's location. when you found your sweet spot you will need to use the measurements you took earlier and reweld the spring retainers the same distance from the end as they were originally. Then just slide the canister back on and put the springs back in place.
