88 CBR1000F Starting Problem
Here's my starting problem. I haven't pulled the alt out yet to get to the starter clutch and damper. I have ordered a used starter clutch on ebay for $20 USD. It is said to be in good condition. We shall see. Anyways, this is me trying to start the bike while it is cold. It sounds like the starter is not spinning as fast as it should or the clutch is not engaged like it should be.

I take it that you've checked that ALL the connections to the starter motor are tight and not corroded?

Just had another listen to the vid mate! ... It sounds like everythings working normally ... just at about 50% of normal turnover ... which would make me think that either there's a voltage / current leak somewhere in the circuit or your starter motor is FUBAR! .... Did this just suddenly happen, or has it got worse over time? Have you checked ALL the leads for bad contacts etc?

Sorry mate, but sounds just like mine did when the damper went, after i took mine out i could spin the damper by hand.
Not a big job Aussie Johnno |
Ah, sorry I guess I should have updated this thread. The problem ended up being almost no compression on 3 out of 4 cyclinders. I had to adjust the valve clearance. She starts right up now!
