Default removing stripes on cbr1000rr

hey, am looking at buying a new 2011 red cbr100rr, it does have some black/silver stripes around side of tanks....not crazy about them... heard some guys remove the decals. I wondered what is the best way to remove the decals. I suppose a heat-gun, but wondered if that would also mar the red paint job in anyway... or, if one removed the decals, does it leave a slight valley where the decal was located. thanks for any advise .. currently ride '93 cbr600 f2.........

most decals on the bike can be removed with a little patience and leave no traces... but the tank decals are under the clear-coat; not really practical to remove.

Doesn't that bike have a plastic cover over the tank? If so, they should just be stickers with no coating. Br careful with the heat, it will warp the plastic if too much is used.

Just use a blow dryer.

the decals are not under clear coat. It is a red plastic tank with no clearcoat. I just did mine yesterday with goo be gone, and let it sit on there for a few mins, then used a credit card to get the corner up, then a slow steady peel. Then used goo be gone again on the remaining glue that was there. Now you cannot see that they were ever there.

what he said^. I removed my HRC stickers from the side and was going to peel the tank off, it looked like a basic sticker. no clear over it. This is on 2012 though.
