Rearset question
I'm looking for the majority opinion about which rearsets are the best-bang-for-the-buck. That will probably be my next mod and I want to know what brand everyone seems to think is the all-around best, price,looks,function,quality. God I love this forum!!!!!
I have Arata rearsets. Two minor problems; Goodridge brake hose now too long and switch for rear brake light is hyper-sensitve and varies between always on and flickering on / off at the slightest adjustment. They work well though, I'm six foot tall and most the others I've tried still leave me cramped up!
I also have the Arata system and like them a lot. I was able to adjust my rear brake light sensor to make it work like it did before I installed the Arata's. I did have to remove the right lower plastic and pull the wiring harness for the sensor out a little bit to give it some slack.
Ok... noob question... I keep seeing talk about reverse shifting/ GP shifting... could you clarify that for me? Does that mean the shifting sequence is reversed? i.e., 1 up/ 5 down? Sorry to sound like a bonehead but that is new to me.
Here is the black arata rearsets. I like them alot only down part is I also had brake light problems so i disconnected it all together and only use the front. It also does not have as many position options for the foot pegs as others do, but they still get the job done and are really slick looking. They also come with a new shift lever with the gp shifting option.

If I completely understand the technique a racer will shift all the way down to say second gear by having their foot under the shift lever. Then prior to full lean they will have their foot on top of the shifter while in the turn ready press down on the shift lever shifting into higher gears for what ever straits they can tack advantage of.
I still have mine set up normal. I would go GP but I want to be able to jump on the 600 every now and then and not get confused. Anyone have two different bikes with one set up normal and one GP and not have a problem jumping back and forward?
Definately a solution for track days (disconect the switch) but then again thats the only time I never touch the rear brake. The men in blue will "eat me alive" if I try road riding with no rear brake connection. Down in deepest darkest Africa we get pulled over regularly to have bribes extracted out of us. Needless to say I'm always in #$%# because I don't pay bribes and thus get ticketed!
