Need a wiring expert

Hello,

I just ordered a cigarette lighter with built in fuse for my bike. The original drawling say to put it on the battery. My intentions is to keep a phone charger continuously plugged in for when i ride. My worry is that the little led light on top of the charger will run my battery dead after a few days. Would it hurt wiring the cigarette lighter into the low beam? I am currently running HID's. Or does any one else have a source of power i can tap into only when the key is turned on?

Any input would be great.
Thanks

I would really doubt that a little red LED bulb would run the battery down. I would not personally wire in the plug to your headlights just so you can have those pristine, i would rather do it to the license plate light so all the wires are hidden. just my 2c

Since it looks like you don't have a license plate light,I would wire it to it.

if you phone can use usb then i would follow the DIY usb in the DIY section. if youdont start your bike for a couple days perhaps but you should be okay.

My bike does have a tail light.. I just haven't had time to update my sig. I have checked out the DIY section and i already bought the part.. i will read over it again.. Thanks for the input guys.

Look in the fuse compartment for any 12V power source that is only hot when the key is on such as the horn, tail light, etc. Check it with a multimeter if you have to. Wire it to any of those and you'll be okay as far as having an LED on "all" the time with the cigarette lighter plug.
