Marchesini validity

Does anyone have the weightnumbers of the stock tri-spokes on on a 1K. I am trying to figure out if there is a real advantage by switching to Marchesini forged aluminum, or if it will be purely aesthetic. All the numbers posted by Marchesini are Ducati related.

don't have the exact numbers but i remember seeing an article in SportRider comparing different kinds of aftermarket rims
the Marchesini's are definitely lighter than the OEM ... wait for www.1000rr.net to come back up and search their archives for more info

FYI the new Carrozzeria V-Star are lighter than the Marchesini's

Well after searching the posts on here I have developed what can only be described as a magnesium-phobia. I have horrible visions of my wheels flying apart into thousands of little pieces as the tire comes down from an unintetional third gear carry out of a corner. Are they really as brittle as people are making them out to be. I know this could be a thread in itself, but I am pretty curious as to how "careful" you have to be with them.

Magnesium are for those track bikes(only). I'd go for an aftermarket forged aluminium alloy to be safe..Lighter than stock but not as light as magnesium. If u dun worry about benting ur wheels than u should consider BST or Dymag carbon fibre wheels. Also strictly for race use only(track). Juz my 2 cents.. :D

I have Marchesini mags. on my 06 1000 and it made the bike handle so much better. Quicker in and out of turns, better acceleration, better feel. Definatley one of the best investments for my bike.
