I just bought a new 08 1000rr and need help with mods.......

I will be picking up a brand new red/black 08 1000rr this week. They had a price I couldnt refuse.

The first things I want to add are Frame sliders and a tank protector.

Can you guys suggest any brands and better yet, can you show me pictures of how they look?

What I would suggest is a PCIII, Ignition Module, 520 Chain conversion, bmc race and a Jardine RT5 slip on. Obviously the frame sliders is a good thing to start. I have the above mods with custom maps and I am making 172 pk hp and 83 ft lb tq, but the peak gains arent the most important. This thing pulls like a freight train through all gears at all revs. I use 15/44 gearing for insane power and 16/44 for top end. Im 225 and with my bike geared 15/44 there is no bike that can hang 1/4 mile or roll ons, not even busa's. 0-170 this bike is insane.............

best pipe I seen for the 09 1kRR is taylormade.

Slliders prolly shoguns, dont get no-cuts they are a waste of time.

Tires get PP 2CT's or Corsa III's

PC III, dyno tune w/ custom map

Tank protector will depend on your tastes, I have a clear one on my F4, I seen a clear film on a 09 you could barely tell it was on there.

thanks for the info on the no cuts. Ive heard showguns are good. Id prefer no cuts because am uneasy about cutting into my brand new, perfect new bike.
My uncle is the parts unlimited rep in the area so I can get anything they sell at cost through him. I need to check out a pu catalog

TBagr 05-03-2009 04:40 PM

if you want best sound for a pipe go with 2bros.

if you want best look go with taylormade.

for examples of both (and other mods) just click on my name and photo album. lots of pics there/

Im picking up my bike in two days! I cant wait!

I was hoping one of you guys could do me a favor. Could you tell me if the factory rear fender unbolts from the undertail? I want to install a new led tail light with intigrated turn signals and once its in, I will have no use for that huge oem fender. If not, have any of you seen a plain undertail without the turn signals?

Thanks for your help!

Jim

HAHAHA. You should join the military and be a recruiter. If you pimp out the services like you do your photo album we would definetly hit our manpower goals.

nope, it's one piece the undertail and fender. i've seen some guys down here cut out the fender from the undertail, paste it and sand it down good and then paint it and it looks like factory finish.

If you don't want to go through all that there's undertails by hotbodies, werks, ride engineering...just to name a few, just google it you'll find them.

There are a few of us with Red/Black color schemes that are modded. Check out my album for some good mods with that color scheme....I was giving TBagr a hard time, but his bike has some good looking mods also.

I like the blacked out look. Your undertail looks good too.

Im thinking of installing the led tail light then cutting off the rear fender and modify/install a plate bracket and light where I cut the fender from the undertail. Cheap and simple.

Which do you guys think is brighter and more noticeable, the led tail lights with intigrated turn signals or the undertail like the one on nafstap's bike? I live in Ithaca, we have two colleges and a lot of foreign people here. I dont want to get rear ended by a dumb cager whos not paying attention.

i have a friend who cut it off and it looks perfect, if you're looking to cut costs thats the way to go, and it looks pretty good.

i have the hotbodies undertail i dont know if you'll like it but everyone has their own tastes...

i wish i could afford both pretty visible

user 3037347 05-08-2009 09:51 PM

I chose my undertail for the visibility and also because I have to meet certain requirements for the base safety inspection.

RumbleFish 05-14-2009 05:10 PM

I also have a red/black...my mods so far..
Sato case protectors
Evotech tail tidy *chosen cuz it let me keep stock turn signals and no cop hassles*
Yosh R-77, PC3 & DynoJet IRC unit...best mod so far! Bike runs & sounds GREAT!
Motovation axel sliders
e-cushion seat
rear seat cowl
Pazzo levers
Tank Slapper tank protection film is awesome and super easy to install

08 clip ons

has anybody tried some new handle bar clip ons to raise there bars for a more comfortable long ride

Speedtrip 08-08-2009 10:44 PM

Like the look of those TREX sliders and the price is right.

TBagr 08-09-2009 01:09 PM

i was looking at those trex cut sliders but cant see a list of how long they are. i like my sliders quite long and would order these if they fit that criteria.

PlayfulGod 08-09-2009 01:16 PM

Friend dont let their friend install no-cut sliders ;)

I was worried about the same thing. Thats why I requested the 3 1/2" versions as well. The 2" frame sliders are perfect. They look like they will protect the entire fairing if need be.

I know people always say you shouldnt by no cut frame sliders but these are very secure. They follow the frame and they actually clip into a small hole that is on the frame. Im not sure why the hole is there but regardless, these suckers look strong.

I highly recommend them!

Id like to hear from someone who has tried them too. Has anyone installed them yet?
