How to install a slip on?
 

I am installing my sato slipon and i was woundering if there was a how to thread anywhere here? My questions are basically about the exhaust cables, where, how, what not to do? this is my first undertail exhaust installation any tips?

04-07 is the same

the only difference is the location of the servo for the exhaust valve

yeah i have an 06 and i bought an 05 sato exhaust. It actually was a fairly easy install everything fell into place and brackets lined up pretty easily. just not sure about the servo and little things like side heat shield.

yeah i just read both of those write ups but i dont know if how i removed the cables messed anything up i just loosened the nuts holding the cables and was able to pop them out of the holes and then tucked them up into the "trunk" by the battery box. let me know?

get rid of the heat shield
both the AL one on top of the can as well as the AL one on the side of the bike
use Cool It brand heat tape between the can and the undertail
unhook the cables from the servo
on a new pipe the exhaust valve goes away anyway. servo for the 06/07 is under the seat in the same compartment as the trunk lock

yeah i pulled off all of the heat shielding the whole can and midpipe are titanium do you think i will still need the cool it? As far as the cables go i wasn't sure that what i did may cause the check engine light?

with ti you can take all the heat shielding off and be ok

with the cables they really need to come totally off. reason is, they are still attached to the servo. the servo will still turn moving the cables back and forth. they can get caught and lock up the servo messing up the servo motor. this will cause a check engine light. you must however leave the servo plugged in or you will definetly get a check engine light

that is the answer i was looking for, so i can disconnect them from the servo (inside the key lock box as well) just dont mess with the servo inside the box. That makes sense. I was told to "just ziptie them out of the way"

yeah as far as the heat shield i wasn't sure if i was supposed to be able to put the side portion backon, it wont fit around the mid pipe anymore i have only seen one side pic of a Sato exhaust and it didnt have the side heat shield either,

haha. i am assuming they are all from the the old heat shieldand undertail but i seem to have a large pile. I have secured all the important structural things, (exhaust, seat brackets, trunk,ect) but i seem to see alot of empty holes that dont attach to anything.
