Heatshield
 

Okay i just took off my stock exhaust and put on a M4 exhaust on my 1000RR and now i got those side brackets and that big ugly heat shield. If i take the sides off you can see the ugly headshield. So here is the question.. Think its okay to just take the heatshield off or will it get so hot that it will melt my undertail?? maybe a aftermarker nice looking heatshield out there?

i have an 06 with a scorpion slip on. I just removed my heat shield and all plastics mounts. I have not noticed at all any melting or anything getting warm enough to cause an issue. I say remove the heatshield looks much better anyway. You wont have a problem but if you want to just be safe you can get some exhaust heat tape that you can just stick to the underside of your tail section. That works too. Good luck..

Thanks so much for the reply man I really appreciate it. I will do exactly what you said ill buy some heat tape and i dont think it should be a big problem.

trim it back with tin snips... works just as well and still has benefit of heat sheild :)
