Headlight Mod
Its not the light, You cant do that. You have a high beam and low beam. Its the way the mirrors are in the housing that causes the light pattern. Its the same bulb.
^^ Yep. They're both the same 55w H7 bulb. No difference in anything other than the way the light is reflected out of the headlamp housing. You could aim the high beam down, but you would loose functionality of it as a high beam.
At first I hated the "winking" look, but it's grown on me. If you are worried about light output, you could always upgrade to HID's. And if you do a lot of daytime riding, just ride with the highbeam on all the time.

There IS a modification on HooliganBikeTech.com for the 600f4i (same headlight assembly) that re-wires the headlights with HIDs. It will operate BOTH lights on dim and BOTH on bright when done. Its very informative and looks fairly simple. I haven't done it yet but am planning a work day when the weather warms to do this. I can't wait cuz I'm tired of getting asked if I know i got a headlight out!

The PROBLEM with those types of modifications is that the headlamps were NEVER designed to be used with a dual-filament bulb or bi-xenon bulb........which means the end result is garbage. What makes headlamp low and high beams IS NOT the bulb, it's the way the light is reflected. The headlamp reflectors HAVE to be designed to use either single or dual-filament bulbs. You can't just throw a dual-filament bulb into a headlamp housing and expect it to work.
Again, THE BULB HAS NOTHING to do with high/low beams. Take a long hard look at your headlamps. You'll noticed that the reflector of the high beam is smoother and shallower.......and that the low beam side is slightly deeper and has more angles and creases in it.
Headlamps are engineered to use the bulb as a source of light, and the reflector is designed to "shape" that light into a specific pattern. Our low beam reflectors create a wide, linear pattern on the road. The high beam creates a scattered, thrown pattern.
You can see this if you pull up a couple feet from a garage. Turn on the low beam, then the high beam. They're two completely different patterns on the garage, because the reflectors are two COMPLETELY different designs for different results.
I think that sums it up nicely.
