i guess if you had a very long set of pliers or cutters,

the screen comes off the front of the intake via two plastic tabs so if you could get to it i guess you could twist it out

What's the HRC mod? and is an a tech intake the best one to get? K&N? Havent thought about it nor researched it just curious because i'm getting ready to do the flapper mod tommorrow and if the intake isn't all that expensive I'll pick it up and do it all at once.

just did the flapper mod today, took me all but about 30 secs to do, wasn't even that hard to secure the hose even with the fairing on. Now the only doubt I had (and it might sound very stupid, so forgive me) was if i had to somehow plug the hole on the actual diaphragm, i did plug the hose...

ok, rode to work this morning, I could definitely feel a differecnce on the low range rpms, and more than power i felt that it smoothed out the acceleration or take off. I'm using a map they programmed when I ordered my pc that is supposed to be used with a jardine dual, I have a two bros and bmc air filters, but I don't think I've gotten the results i'm supposed to. Anyone know of a place around the savannah/hilton head/charleston area that can do custom maps?

No sir, plug the hose, secure it, your finished. Feel good that your engine can breathe now at lower RPM's 8)

HRC mod is 1/6 turn throttle
a tech flows as much as the HRC intake but you still retain full lock to lock on the forks

general consensus is that K&N is not as good as BMC
standard BMC flows same as stock
race BMC has dyno proven gain of about 2hp

Now that you've done all that work, you might as well get an A-Tech intake.
why would i buy a ****ty old air filter for a tiny more power ANYWAY
i wasnt lookin for more power just dropping **** i didnt need
i would supercharge this thing way b4 i got any old exhaust or air filter
if your gonna do it do it right the first time turbo/supercharger where the real power is @

what the hell are you talking about?
the atech?

thats not a "****ty old air filter"
its the actual intake duct made of carbon fiber

and only drag racers get turbos and superchargers
a turbo is useless for a track rider
you spool up midcorner and you are on your ***
and i have never actually seen a supercharger for a bike but again for the track nimbleness and smoothness of throttle are more important than raw horsepower

that is why people do these mods
yeah it adds power but that is a bonus. the main thing is that it smooths up the throttle response so the bike will behave the way you want it to everytime

http://calisuperbikes.com/index.htm

im thinking its the way to go if you really want power from a 1000 i do have a 400+hp hayabusa and it rips *** but my busa is turbo
i think the supercharger is realy realy smooth im thinking about it

Has anyone just removed the flapper and left the rest as is?
The flapper may be a cold engine limeter thing to prevent to much power when the engine is cold.
