I have the PCM on my machine and was there when my mechanic installed it. The process from the PCM to the laptop (PC) is easy. Connect the two devices via the supplied USB cable. Make sure the software is installed in your PC and download the file, from PCM website, that fits your machine & it's aftermarket parts.

Also, read the installation instructions.
For example, I have a K&N filter (2) & a Yosh Slip On. So, via the PCM site, I was able to download the right MAP file. Using the PCM software, I sent the file to the PCM device installed on my machine. You can also tweak the RPM and set it exactly the way you want it. To deliver linaer power all the way to redline. Spend some time on their (PCM) webiste. Make sure to visit their Control Center Software for Download[ing]. And then visit their Map Database to find what applies to your bike.
