Bazazz Z-bomb...

I am looking for some feedback on the z-bomb. I have ordered one and it should be here in 6-10 days. Anybody running one and how do you like it?
Any advice?

Parts arrived today. Already installed. Unfortunately it is a rainy day so there is no test ride and ass dyno results to pass along.
The install is pretty straight forward... it would be nice to have smaller hands. The K&N race filter was installed at the same time.
More to come.

This is the first Ive heard about em. The gains they calim is pretty impressive for the price.

thrasher572 04-29-2010 12:58 AM

Yup. A 5 to 7hp gain for a plug and play device is the claim @ $135.32. The gain is supposed to be above 10000rpm and for track use only... I don't know if there is a performance gain claimed for the K&N without a power commander and pipe, but they do claim it flows 25% more than the street filter.
The rain has turned to snow so it may be a few more days before the test ride.

Well that just sucks.

What year is your bike?

thrasher572 04-29-2010 10:09 AM

2008... Next mods will probably be a powercommander 5 and pipe.

CBRCRF 04-29-2010 10:27 AM

Thats going to be one smooth ride after the mods.

Did you look into BMC race filters when looking at the K&N? The reason I ask is for the 04-07 models BMC was better than K&N. K&N showed a loss in power. I dont know how they are for the 08's though.

thrasher572 04-29-2010 12:50 PM

I did look into both. I have used K&N filters for nearly 25years in my bikes. No complaints. Call me brand loyal on this one.
I think the power loss had a lot to do with too much flow for the exhaust...the result was turbulant airflow rather than smooth. I think with the right exhaust and the auto tune feature employed on the PCV, there should be little difference. Until then I will likely be running a little lean on the top end. I am at 3500ft above sea level here so I'm playing with thinner air than some of you lucky people at sea level.

The ass dyno is happy with the results. The bike feels better throught the whole rev range...a little better throttle response from the basement up. And above 10000rpm it just keeps pulling hard.
I would recommend it as good bang for the bucks.

Hmm...if you're going to get a PC V why didn't you just stick with Dynojet all the way and get an IRC instead of the Bazzaz Z-bomb? They accomplish the same thing and I've read that the IRC is less than 1/2 the price. I just dd a Google search and saw the IRC listed for under $55 at one site.
