Bar Ends, grr...
 

okay, so i'm trying to replace the bar ends on an '08. all the threads i can find on the internets usually deal with not being able to get the ends off at all - not my problem. ends come off fine, it's the rest of the assembly i'm struggling with. i've got parts #9 and #22 off the bike and i can see the end of part #8 sticking through ring #11, but for the life of me, i can't get anything else to budge. a little help from some of you who've been down this road?

those the screws that came with the stock bar ends? just wondering if the threads are messed up

honestly i have never had to take that much out of my clipons. what part are you exactly trying to replace # wise i mean. if its part #8 i have no idea other than removing parts #11 then #10.

yep, it's all stock and the threads are in great shape. i can screw 'em in and out with no problems. supposedly, the #8 part is just 'floating' in the bar and is held in by #12 and #11, but i can't get a grasp on the next step here, and don't want to bollocks something up by trying to force things in the meantime.

Spray a load of WD 40 up the bar tube and leave it over night. I had a big fight with mine when I first got my cane but they came out and it was a fight. Get a sacrificial screw into the thread and pull like buggery. That's all there is to it. Brute force I'm afraid.
I threw the whole lot away after that. A horrible assembly if you ask me. Born to be a problem. Like so many Jap manufacturers they don't lube things properly in the factory.

Get a sacrificial screw and put some vice grips on the screw and :icon_couchhide: HIT it with a hammer. :icon_denk:

Aren't there some clips into the bars through the throttle tube that you have to remove ?

Roll the grip up at the end of the bar . the is a hole top and bottom with a clip in there that needs to be pushed in, still a pain in the a## to get them out but it helps.

That clip, (believe it's number 11 on the fiche) is a PITA, I needed to replace the inner weight on my bike and I had to pull the grip off to depress the clip keepers into the holes on the top and bottom of the bar. Once you get them pressed in, that clip comes out and the inner weight will follow with some pull on it.
