Holy $hit...does all this have to be done to do something as simple a fender eliminator kit? Sorry to act so surprised but I'm new to this and I love my bike whole and not sure if I'd be able to get it back together again...

It's not all that difficult. My FE came with instructions. It's not hard and not very many bolts at all to remove the stock setup.

You can do it. ;)

You will not have a problem. Trust me when I say if I can do it you can too. 90% of trying to do your own work is having the confidence to try. The other 10% is having the right tools. ;). If you still don't feel comfortable after taking your time just take pictures as you go.

Remove the seat first, lift the corner of the seat close to the tail and remove the hex screw facing straight up. Do the same thing to the other side. Take off the seat. There are 4 hex screws holding the tail fairing on. Take off the pillion and remove the 2 screws where you see it holding tail plastic. Then remove the 2 screws on the side close to where the seat screws were. Removing the tail faring requires a little bit of pulling on one side but it comes off relatively easy, oh yeah disconnect the tail light. After that it's just a matter of removing 4 bolts and 2 screws to remove the fender. Clip the signal lights and license plate light. Rest is up to the F/E manufacturer. Enjoy...
