08 1K slip on

Hey guys. Just bought my 08 1000RR. Curious about something.
If you install a slip on exhaust on it, what do you do with the little valve inside of the exhaust? will it throw a check engine light?
Thanks.

it will throw a code if you disturb the solenoid -- but there are ways around that. i suggest this.

That looks wayyy complicating... I was looking for an easier solution. Any bike company selling anything that will fix it?

that's a pretty big thread, i think you missed the part where you send the OP ("pdfruth") $15 and he sends you the plug-n-play module. no skill involved.

this is what it looks like.

Oh, didn't see that. Theres one problem, I tried signing up for that forum, but wouldn't let me.
How about I pay YOU $20 via Paypal, you buy one from him for $15 and give him my address for shipment?
Interested?

PM me your email address. I will forward it on to pdfruth and you two can work it out from there. I have one of his ESRM's on my '08 1000RR and it works great.

PM sent. Thanks for the help.
One more question. Is that a true plug and play, or is there soldering involved?

absolutely plug-n-play. it replaces your exhaust servo with the exact same connector.
and as an added bonus, you gain a nice bit of extra space in your battery tray.

Thanks a lot for the help, you two. I owe you guys one.
What do you guys think about D&D exhausts? Any experience, problems? Any other recommendations?

looks like i might have to invest in this harness as well. I'm looking to get a hotbodies "megaphone" exhaust. definitely don't want to have any codes
