Trackday review
#11
Thanks for the advice, I'll keep that in mind if I run another Michelin. I have noticed the ****ty suspension phenomenon on peoples bikes who had super low air pressure. Hopefully one day I'll get good enough to realize the small changes =D
I'm pretty excited about the next trackday - bought some more crap and I will slowly continue to do so as I get better.
More crap:
-Nice set of D211 gp-a takesoffs w/ a 190/55 rear. Overkill but the condition/price was nice so why not. Side note - I think I'm going to hold off on raising the front to compensate for rear ride height until I ride it trackside.
-Racetech .95 springs - gonna try Maxima 15w which is only a bit higher on the viscosity chart than the OEM ss8 10w fork oil. Gonna drop compression all the way/increase rebound all the way and adjust from there as well as correctly set my sag.
-Spare rear wheel and keeping eye out for a front
-Vesrah RJL pads for the front
-Generic sliders (short)
-1" up and back rearset risers - I think the stock height is perfect for teaching you how to get off the bike and get on the ***** of your feet and is certainly good enough for a novice pace. I only made contact once last time and it was because of bad foot position
-Gonna pick up a 4x8' folding trailer
Future mods for when I get better or the price is right:
SS brake lines, 1000rr Master, 1/6 throttle, track body, racetech rebound valve, 16g rear spring, star shifter, pc3
And if I wreck the right side good enough I'll probably get a cheap slipon and tune...I'm just not a big fan of putting go fast parts on anything without a good tune
The main thing is I want any doubts out of my head such as is my rear tire good enough? (upgraded), what do I do if I crash? (trailer), and the peace of mind of having the suspension, brakes and everything at a level undoubtedly well beyond my riding limits.

I have a 03 CBR 954RR that i am currently building to get ready for track. I bought an 03 CBR 954 brand new then sold it after a few people tried to run over me. Now I back into bikes and want to race for fun, and win 1 maybe. LOL Was wondering if we could correspond on email or phone ( echardwood@gmail.com) because i have a million questions and you seem like you are the MAN !!
1st thing is it has a D&D pipe on it and everything else is stock basically.
1- sprockets and chains - your recomendation (-1/+1) what you think
2- Brembo braking for front leave rear stock ?
3- stock or racing clutch
4- do i need power commander with D&D pipe.
wont keep asking till i see if you dont mind. I love this bike and i love 2 go fast, and Haters will never understand. thanks jp fletcher (jacksonville,nc )
