Default Oregon Raceway Park..some fun!

I haven't seen much on this relatively new track in north central Oregon so I thought I would stick some pics and some impressions of this excellent track. The link below takes you to the website for the track.

Track Info & Map | Oregon Raceway Park

The track itself was just finished a couple of years ago. The pits and paddock area is complete but not fancy like some tracks. Everything needed is there and it's well laid out, clean and smooth with a great friendly staff. It's a 2.3 mile circuit, configured to run safely in both directions, with lots of elevation change and really interesting corners.

The Halfpipe section is quite fun. I've been all over to the western US tracks and I must say this track is one of my favorites on a bike. Reminds me a bit of the Corkscrew/Rainey corners at Laguna Seca, but without the blind entry. There are other corners at ORP that do have blind entries, however. It pays to 'learn' the track well before attempting to lap at speed.

The pic above is the exit of the Halfpipe complex during a Motofit Group track day. Experienced riders session, of course.

The track is in the wheat country just east of the Cascade mountains. In the photo's background are Mt Adams and Mt Rainer. You can see about 6 snow-capped peaks from the track. Summer can get hot and windy. You will want your shade canopy.

My S.O. attended a Reg Pridmore Class day there last fall and improved her bike handling and confidence about 1000% Here she is entering the pit-out on a clockwise lap.

The track is somewhat tight, not a wide-open track at all, like say Willow Springs. Probably near the same average speeds as Laguna Seca, but without the "Noise Police" Liter bikes probably won't ever get past 4th...I didn't happen to check my speedo when I ran on my S.O.'s old F2 one day, but it is not a 'top-speed' track, it is more a 'carry your corner-speed' track. You can probably lap as quickly on a Supersport as on a liter bike..
Riders come from all over the west and they seem to all really like the track. It IS out in the boonies with no real close towns or motels or C-stores. It's probably about 2hrs east of Portland. The nearest sizable town is The Dalles, Or about 45 mins away.
fun place, Oregon Raceway Park.
