I did mine with a grinder. I held up the swinger with the sprockets lining up and my father-in-law marked everything off and then I started lightly grinding. It was, if I remember correctly, 3ish mm from the sprocket side and only 1-2mm from the other side - and I was only removing material from the insides towards to the motor, not the outsides by the motor mount. I removed as little as possible and got a tight fit. You'll also notice one of those little boxes that sticks out form the casting also has to go because it will catch on the motor when testing the movement.

Just line everything up with the sprockets - you can't line those up easily after the fact. Go slow and it'll turn out great.

Unfortunately it won't. Honda did that weird compound brake set up with the vfr800 where they use a 3 piston rear brake caliper. When you're on the front brakes, it applies the middle piston in the rear caliper. And then the other 2 pistons apply pressure when you're on the rear brake. So, it's a pretty big caliper compared to our single piston caliper.

I did see where someone retrofitted a brembo caliper to it - But I haven't seen one of our Nissin calipers on it.

Here's a pic - you can see how much bigger it is and how it mounts. You can also see how I blocked off the middle piston and just ran the two outer pistons
