Default 2001 F4i sputtering

I just bought an '01 f4i in los angeles. Bike ran fine down at sea level. I brought it home to Mammoth at 8000 feet and it's now running rough. The "FI" light blinks twice. I think the fault code says it's the map sensor. A buddy looked at the bike and noticed that there is no 02 sensor. The bike has a slip on exhaust. I've reset the computer and it's still giving me the same trouble. Any ideas?

MAP stands for Manifold Air Pressure. It would be the sensor that corrects for altitube or other changes in atmospheric pressure.

The FI system is open loop...no correction based on an O2 sensor.

Either the sensor is bad, oris out of range at your elevation...I would think 8000 feet is not out of range. Its in the air box (under the tank) and is approx$140 on bike bandit....ouch....man, check ebay.

Might be a loose or bad connection too.
