Slipknot, Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack. they are my usual favorites to listen too. My cut D&D can sounds good as a background hum to my favorite jams.

i have an hour's drive to and from oak harbor a few times a week.. i tried the ipod thing once and realized it was amazing to have a preset jamlist ready to go. i listen to hip hop, r&b, some rock.. yeah music can get distracting so i keep mine low enough so i can hear everything. the only time my music distracts me personally is from fear of turns really (still working on my leans lol)

I have a "bike " playlist it includes Colt Ford, Kid Rock, Flo Rida, Dan Diamond, House of Pain, Lenny Cooper, Pit Bull, MC Hammer, Buckcherry, Black Eyed Peas, Creed, Pink, Motley Crue, Warrant, Beasty Boys (don't laugh), I could go on but I will spare you the pain.

This is how i have my icon set up

Heres what you need...
an ipod shuffle (found this one for $15 at a pawn shop)
Set of radio shack over the head headphones(yes i know they are cheep but i can hear my music just fine at 90 mph and can still turn it up more)
some velcro ( i used 1 1/2 inch round)

velcro the ipod like this

cut off the head band so you have two of these and velcro in place by ears

When it is all buttoned up you cant even see the speakers

wire it through your helmet ( i shortened the wires but not necessery)
Had the wire run out right here

When your done you have a self contained system. No headphones to rip out of your ears when you take off your helmet. Having the speakers where they are makes it easy to hear whats around you while still having the tunes. Changing songs is easy just push the bottom button on the ipod, takes one second. You dont have to remember to hook everything up before you leave. AND best of all no worying about what songs or songs getting old, just hook it up to the comp and hit reload and it puts all new music on it!! lol

Sorry for the long explaination of what and how i listen lol
So, I am going to try this. I actually am getting an Ipod shuffle tomorrow. What did you do to shorten the headphone cord? Just cut and twist it back together and use heat shrink tubing, or what? I don't mind sticking the excess under the padding, but if it is easy enough to cut and shorten, I would prefer to go that route.

Maybe I'm just weird, but i like to just listen to my exhaust/engine and surroundings. I feel too uncomfortable with music playing. Even when I walk across campus, I feel uncomfortable with music on..

I'm completely opposite. When I walk around campus and do anything I like to have my music going, mostly because it sets my mood and I'm used to being alone so it is a comfort thing. On the bike, it just calms me down instead of worrying about downhill left turns :P

I don't listen to music on the bike. I ride hard when I do take her out and can't afford any distractions.
