I've always wondered why they decided to bolt the seat down on the 600s.
The 1000F you just turn the key and the whole seat pops off. Then it just clicks back on! Very nice.

 

Ya ive been tryin to come up with a new way to keep my seat down... bolts are such a pain to get too.. and inconvenient...

 

That would be a cool mod for you to work on, man. There has to be a relatively easy solution to this.....

 

I've been riding around without anything holding it down for a while and haven't really noticed a difference... took the seat off so many times I lost the screws lol

 

Why don't you try and use the same lock and key rig that the back seat uses? I mean, what's under the front seat of the split seat bikes? Just the battery and fuses?

But I have a banana seat, and love it for it's ease to get at everything, but still undecided about the "size" of the seat.

 

Like those times your bolts explode and your seat flies off right out from under you.

 

Could you fit Zeus fasteners instead of bolts ?
Then it's just a half turn and you're good to go.
My old CB750C has bolts, and that's a real pain too.

 

One mod I want to do is put a latch on the front seat so turning the cylinder will lock/unlock both.

 

Lol i dont like ordering things off the internet, cant you just get any 10mm bolt and pop it on?

 

I swapped out the orig bolts for hex-head bolts. I keep a hex key in my bike that fits the seat bolts, fairing bolts, chain guard, etc. For me, the hex bolts are quicker & easier to get out.

I agree that a quick-release mechanism of some sort would be better but I can get my seat off pretty quick w/ those hex bolts...& really, you shouldn't need under the front seat that often. ;-)
