What is the fairing stay made out of?

Default What is the fairing stay made out of?

I know the lower part is like aluminum, or steel, however, what is the upper made out of?

i think its cast aluminum, the oem upper ill bend back if your careful btu the aftermarket ones r super brittle

yup cast aluminum....

if u go aftermarket try the carbon fiber ones, if the aftermarket aluminum ones are brittle

really? seems to light to be steel thats why i assumed it was aluminum

either way though its gotta be cast

Mines def not cast anywhere on it. Its welded tubing n plate. Maybe be alum, never had my off to know its weight. But the one my cusin n I replaced on his YZF many moons ago was steel. Theres not alot to one so it could still be steel n not be all that heavy

When I replace/fix my upp fairing I'll take it off n see tho

the f4 stay is different than the f4i stay the f4 is the steel tubing but the f4i is not

Van is correct guys. The f4 stay is steel tubing. The F4i stay is cast aluminum like so much of the rest of the bike. Pot metal really, junk and it doesnt weld back worth a crap.

yea cast is pretty much pointless to try to weld to many inperfections and typically to thin you just end up blowings bigger holes in it.... Best using that new liquid metal stuff.... You can get it at wally world
