Real World Horsepower Numbers
I have a 2006 cbr600rr. Right now all I have is the yoshimura slip-on and Im putting down 107hp. Im buying a Dyno Jet power commander and a Jardine Header. Could anyone tell me how much power they picked up from adding the power commander to their 600rr?? Im thinking it probly will only be like 5hp. I have a couple buddies the have gsxr600s and between full exhaust, K&N airfilter and a tune they put down right around 110hp. Just wondering if anybody knows the real world gain in power that they have seen on a dyno.
If your looking for the best power, simply adding a power commander really won't do a whole lot unless you get the bike dyno tuned afterwards. You can download maps, but every bike is a little different, and to get the most out of your bike, it needs to be custom tuned on the dyno. Downloaded maps are mearly a start point and most of the time, make some improvement, but nothing like a true dyno tune will get you. I've seen stock bikes that have only a power commander installed and pick up 8hp with just a tune. the other thing that is benificial is getting a bike that is running at its peak performance everywhere in the rpm range. that means great throttle response anytime, no hisitation anywhere, and usually more power everywhere, not just peak hp.
Im not sure why your mixing the header though, I'd just stick with buying a yoshimura header. I don't know of any major differences between them that would warrant using a jardine header over a yoshimura header.
Also, as far as dyno's go. The accuracy between dyno's will vary. You could have one dyno show 110hp, then have another show 105hp. Dyno's get you close, but they are not exactly real world numbers. The factored hp number you see are just that, factored for conditions. The place dyno's come in really handy is if you do a baseline run, then do your mods, then run again. They are great for showing increases in power, as long as you had a baseline run on the same dyno on the same day.
Id run a baseline, change your parts and run again. then do a full dyno tune. However, make sure you have a reputable place do it.

The place where I had my bike dynoed is the same place that is gonna tune it. He doesn't factor up any numbers just to make the bikes look better. He tuned my friends bike and all he cared about looking at was the air/fuel ratio and having a smooth horsepower curve. He gained my friend alot of horsepower through his mid-range rpms as well on the top end. This guy has been racing bike for years so they are very good at what they do.
The other dyno I had my bike ran on it put down 105.6 so I know the numbers are pretty accurate. When I put down 107 the air was cooler that day so I know thats where the extra horse came in at. After I get the power commander and the header, Im gonna add a K&N airfilter then Im gonna take it to have a dyno tune done and see what kind of power I can get out of this bike.

good deal. Sounds like your on the right track to a great running bike. its good to hear you found a good dynotuner that actually looks at the real world for tuning rather than just peak hp.
Even if you don't make much more power after the dyno tune, your bike will feel like its making more once its tuned correctly..
keep us posted.

Yeah I definately keep posting on the power gains.
I know I will feel a pretty good gain. The bike is running pretty lean right now til about 10,000 rpms then it runs a lil rich. So once we get that fuel trim where it needs to be I should have some good mid-range power.
