I guess my next step is to try some different jetting configs

I found the same hole in my slides. I have fitted DJ kit with 124 mains and am running a full straight through system with minie k&n style individual filters.

My needle is set to the 4th from the top. It appeared to be running rich in the low revs.. Could smell the fuel...

When I drilled the slides I enlarged the existing hole and drilled another one.. I think this is causing the needles to lift to soon..

Any ideas? Sugestions?

why the heck did you drill 2 holes? the handout even says slides may not be exactley as shown. yea thats definetly causing them to lift too soon, you either need to find some way to close that hole up, or find some new slides.

I know, it was a dumb thing to do.. thought that it should be the same as the handout picture.. Luckily I have a spare set.. will let you know how it goes.. I think im going to try them without drilling it at all.. will post pics up of filters soon you will love em!

I am in the same boat as you - sort of - I don't know what kit is in my bike, but the PO installed a jet kit and K & N with drilled airbox lid, drilled the sliders.. the whole works. I can smell that it is running too rich in my case, too and too much soot on the tailpipe.. all the telltale signs including stumbling at lower RPM especially after idling. I am thinking of trying to go back as much to stock as possible - can the sliders be swapped out pretty easily? How much do you think it will cost at a shop to have the jet kit taken out and sliders replaced? Or can a jet kit be tuned to be more of a lean, normal setup closer to stock?

You will need to find out if its running rich on the pilot or main jet.. Have you tried adjusting the pilot screw? Check out my project.. I'm going to do some test runs tomorrow to see what needs changing next.. Probably need to re drill the slides. It is fairly easy to swap them over. It took me and a mate about 30 mins. Let you know how it goes tomorrow...

you need to properly tune the jet kit, they are not just simply drop in the largest main jet, pic a needle clip position and go. NO TWO bikes in different areas will have the same setup.

as far as your stumbling goes, adjust your float height, that controls low rpms along with your pilot.

Ok my bike is now running like a rocket.. throttle response isnt 100% though.. Installed the dj needles one above stock setting, mixture screws all 2 1/2 turns out from fully in, individual air filters and 124 mains. I have not yet drilled my slides... any recommendations on how much to drill.. got 2 drill bits supplied in the kit.. cheers
