ok thanks!! i most likely will in the near future, i've been thinking about getting my wheels powder coated gold like that but can't find anyone in the area to do it... none of them are specifically for motorcycles, and i don't want them to mess up wheel bearings and such.

you need to remove the wheel bearing and all grease need to be cleaned off. most powder shops should have at least a 5 stage wash to help with cleaning.

oh thanks Purple. I've heard some places just tape them off, or wrap them up really tight (mask them off) and paint over. So before I take it over there I need to rip out the wheel bearing?? Good info. thanks!

Hey Junior, If your going to go to all that trouble of removing the wheels, unmounting the tires, etc, make sure you get someone to remove the bearings and such. taping them off is not the right way to do it. The heat from the powdercoating process could damage the bearings. The local shop charged me $10 to remove the wheel and bearings, so I had them remove and re-install them.

keep us posted. Good luck.
