Just when it makes noise, it is easy to do..it is even covered in the NEWEST ISSUE of Sport Rider magazine that has the 05 600 comparision ( it is in the tech section)

just snug it up enough to take out the slack...if it is too tight it will prematurely wear the chain guides out..basicly "barley snug" is the closest explanation I can give
