Default 300+ miles before noon - Devil's Lake

I wanted to do this ride yesterday, but the weather forecast was such that I thought I'd get caught in bad thunderstorms, so I bailed on that plan. Last night when I looked at the forecast for today, it looked like if I got home before 3pm, I'd probably be ok.

I left my house at 6:30am and rode to Lodi, Wisconsin to take the Merrimac Ferry across the Wisconsin River. I just thought it would be cool to load the bike up on the ferry and ride across the river. It was cool...Haha...and FREE. And because of the time that I went, I got right on it...no wait. It wasn't even full. Here's the pictures waiting for it, the bike on it, and going across the river:

And here are some pictures from Devil's Lake State Park

Some railroad tracks that run through the park....I love this photo:

Giant boulder on the path to the real cliffs:

And this is the "path" that you are expected to climb up. It was wet and sandy to boot. I climbed most of the way to the top before I started thinking, "I'm alone, AND I have to go back down" which turned out to be a LOT sketchier than going UP!

This is a picture that I took from the highest point that I was willing to climb to:

I'm sure this doesn't show it well, but this is looking down where I had to climb back down:

Here's a couple pictures from the beach at Devil's lake, looking across it:

And after riding back 135 miles, I arrived at one of my favorite nearby places, called Dairy Mart on Route 47 in Huntley IL. It's about 5 miles north of I90 on Route 47. It's about 15 miles from my house. Old school drive up type place. $3 cheeseburgers, good basic shakes and malts. Cute place.

So my day started at 6:30, and including my hike and my stop off at Dairy Mart, I was home before 2pm. 317 miles today. I'm not saying it happened, but the bike MIGHT have seen a buck 25 today on the way home.

There's probably a million ways, Gazz....but I just upload them to a photobucket account and then use their "direct link" URL and copy the image into the post.

I had tennis shoes packed and changed into those, but the rocks were still wet and sandy....and I am probably not as brave as I was when I was in my 20's. Falling to my death on some damn rocks is not how I'd like to go. Hahah.

Ever put 36 letters after that ever so often used word stating with f

Well I went into my album, got the big address at the top which I guess is the URLs, copied and pasted it the reply box , first time the whole lot disappeared so had to start again then went in again done it Dordrecht for word as directions to URL, even up until I pushed the post quick reply button there actually was a URL address thing but after pushing the quick reply it changed it to what you see above which is pretty much not much.
I feel like a 5 Yr old with a crankcase stripped right down yep not a clue
