Tragedy at Laguna Seca MotoAmerica Superbike support race.
Two Spanish racers were killed in a chain-reaction crash on the first lap of a World Superbike race, leaving the racing community overwhelmed with sadness and raising questions about what happened on the track.
The crash took place just before 5pm, moments after the start of MotoAmerica Superbike/Superstock 1000 race

It wasn't WSBK, they were Spaniards racing in the MotoAmerica series, they were just there as a supporting class to WSBK. None the less, very sad.
I follow a lot of racers on FB, including a bunch of people who witnessed it. Most who saw it said it was a vicious wreck (as most multiple bike accidents usually are) that my included 5 bikes and it happened at the end of pit lane (why so many crews and fans were commenting about it on FB) at turn 1 - the kink over the hill on the front straight, but the race went on and most of the fans had no idea the severity (along with race direction).
Elena Myers was always stationed next to Martinez in the pits and mentioned how much she admired Bernat for actually spinning wrenches on his bike with his wife...
This is really unsettling, but I hope that the families celebrate their lives more so than mourn the loss of their lives. This is such a great sport, but it can also be such a cruel one.
