When you bought your bike...did you ride it back?

Test rode mine in straight lines for a mile or 2 with no front brake lever, just to make sure it shifted smooth and tracked straight. Tires were shot, chain was past the wear limits, and bike had been laid down and neglected a good bit. I was 200 miles from home and it was about to rain. Def. trailered it home.

'My' first bike was the '72 Suzuki TC125 that Dad had bought to change water and do other things on the farm with. So, it was already home once I was allowed (and dared!) to ride it myself. Except that dual-sport(?) Zook, I always rode dirt bikes, so it wasn't practical (nor legal) to ride them home from whatever far-off town I found/bought them in.
My F4 (first and only street bike) I trailered home, 'cause I got it in a swap for a dirt bike I hadn't ridden in years, and I had to haul the dirt bike anyway. Couldn't wait to get a street helmet and gear, though, so I put on my old dirt bike helmet and gear so I could ride it around.
I can't hardly wait for spring (it arrives somewhere around Independence Day here ) so I can ride it again.
