What have you been doing to your GEAR today?
Up here in the northern hemisphere the riding season has ended pretty much everywhere, and down under has just started. People are always fixing and tuning their bikes, but how many actually do maintenance to their riding gear?! So now would be a great idea to fix those rips, treat those shoes and gloves, pull the stinky pads from your helmet and give them some of that elbow grease! Of course you can then come and tell if you have good tips, got your helmet painted etc etc...
I`ll start. Was a bit bored and not feeling sleepy so decided to pass some time digging the trustee old riding boots from the closet and give them a little rub.
RPM Karjala:s, really good boots even though they were really cheap, around 109EUR IIRC. Served me for many seasons even though I`m a bit ashamed to confess I`ve never really done anything to them...
So, I applied some military grade (really is, got it from the army) black shoe polish for touching up, let dry, polished the excess off, then applied a thick layer of Nahkiss which is a mixture of beeswax, lanolin and some natural oils, works wonders on leather car seats too. Let it soak itself in for a few hours and wiped the excess off again. Currently being held over the radiator so the rest of the stuff really digs into the leather. Can tell already they got a lot softer during the treatment.
