Default Bought another one....

So, some of you remember that Budget Bandit 600 thread I started (and never completed)... I lost all motivation to do anything with it. I woke up one day, put it on CL, and sold it...

And with how much work there is still to do on my ole 954, I decided its been too long since I had a daily rider, so I found this B12 for sale...so I bought it!

I really do like the Suzi oil boilers... Not too bad for $1800 either. ART pipe, K&N filters, and its been jetted. also, it has those fancy LSL bars. Not too many plans for this thing other than miles, but I'll probably end up throwing some goodies on it that I have lying around the garage...

I'm looking forward to some input from you guys that have some experience with these engines.

Ooooh! I like it. I have a soft spot for big old Suzukis (and have a few tucked away in the shed).

I am going to have to try a naked bike at some stage again.

Keep us posted with the farkling

Cheers, SB

Ssssoooo... when R U gonna fighter it?

Careful with that sign there, if Mike and Frankie drive by they`ll be all over it, then again you could be able to bundle all those empty cans into the deal

Haha, don't know.... But I do know it won't go under the knife until my other bike is done.

So far I've put it on my own fluids schedule - oil, clutch, and brake fluid. In doing so, I put my Brembo master cylinders on it along with SS lines on the brakes, and I have a Hayabusa shock on its way in the mail to make the rear and a bit less spongy. Drag bars replaced the LSL kit, again - to make it a little bit more Sport than Tourer. And Ive gone through and soldered/shrink wrapped some of the electrical joints the PO had just tied together.

Nothing too crazy. But its something to keep me busy until its registered... (The DMV is incredibly busy with the influx of snow birds in my area - I can't take a 2hr lunch break to register it...)

Yup, and its a shame because of how mechanically good the bike was... You wife flagging you down on the highway, at night, to inform you your taillight isn't functioning isn't that comforting...

How much smoke from the vent breather tube is normal on these engines? As you can see from the pics, the air box was deleted, so there was a dangling hose that had some smoke coming out of it (valve cover vent tube) while I had it idling in the driveway.

All I've done is swap the oil engine wise for a 10-40.... There was 20-50 in it previously.

I know these things are oil boilers (they earned the name after all), and I've seen reports of people building oil catch cans (that fill up every 1000-2000 miles) , - but again, I'm worried about excessive blow-by... I haven't lost any oil, but I haven't been riding it much so far.

And any tips on a good socket to pull plugs with? I don't have any that fit down into the head...

I think I've traced my oil leak to the valve cover gasket. Essentially every half moon and corner are leaking... And I put a small breather filter on the vent tube - the smoking has really diminished.

oh when you said you had an oil boiler i didn't think you meant a Blandit' over here they call them suzuki's c l i t because aw' c u n t s got one haha =P

I've got a bit of a love hate relation with them but definitely a soft spot for a well sorted one and definitely hate a half assed ''fighter'' build with them. twin doms and a set of renthals doesn't make something a fighter does it =P

I've only ever had a shot of one and it had a full akro system, k&n dual pods, jetted to suit and it was re-geared for a bit more poke. it was only a wee chirp about the place but damn those motors are lively, id certainly have one if it popped up for the right money.

looking forward to seeing what happens with it dude =]
