Default Anyone paint their own bikes?

Just curious. I am in the process of repainting my Wife's 636. Here are a few shots of the progress so far. Its a base white, base black, with rossetta red pearl over that.

I've only got the tank and the rear section done so far.. first attempt at flames... Before and after of the tank and one with the tank back on the bike.

thanks, I was going to add more flames, but I have never really been a big fan of flames so Ikept them to a minumum. My wife wasnt crazy about the flame idea, but I convinced her to let me. I have always wanted to try it.... and hey, what better place to try it than on a kawi... If I mess it up.... who cares....lol.

Not happy with the bright green? :P Nice paint work man.. I've been wanting to get into painting more, I just can't tie up my parent's garage and I don't own a house yet.

Nice, what kind of paint gun are you using? I do my own as well, just primer now though, spent so much time fixing other things on the bike that since it's finally running good I don't want to tear it down to finish painting and loose more ride time!

thanks,

I am clearcoating it all. Its actually a base white and black.. then , its covered with a clearcoat that has a dry pearl from house of kolor mixed in it. then it gets cleared again with two coats of just clear without the dry pearl in it. Its kind of a long process.

Once it all cures fully, it will be wet sanded and wheeled out.

Im actually using a really cheap gun. Its a craftsman touch up gun. But it works really well for small items. I have a decent sharpe gun, but its in need of some work. I had this gun for a long time and just tried it. I'm suprised it sprays as good as it does. It leaves a fairly orange peel free finish. there is still some there that will get sanded out, but all in all, its pretty good.

the bike was actually red, but my wife wanted to make sure everyone knew it was a girl riding...lol... as if a her being 5'3 and 105lbs with long hair hangin out the back of her helmet while wearing a white jacket and white helmet with purple wasnt enough.....lol.
