Hi new (old) CBR with an interesting project
Howdy,
Peter from Pittsburgh. Got a 97 CBR600 that I've Frankensteined into an off roader. Looking for some help in diagnosing a no voltage scenario to the primary coils.
Here's a couple pics
Cliffnotes
97 CBR600
KTM 48mm forks
KTM EXC swingarm
KTM shock
Alum underseat fuel tank
Kevlar airbox cover
320 rotor with Braking master and caliper
YZ450 seat
Custom header
and a buncha other stuff
I love these stupid creations, did another one a year or so ago out of a Yamaha FZ1. I used KTM 950 suspension front and rear on this one, custom subframe, 950 wheels, alum sidebags. Bike is a LOT of fun

Thanks guys, I do love the projects
This CBR was designed to be a much more focused bike than the FZ1. Lighter more nimble etc.
The underseat tank is about 2.25 gal so not a lot of range.
I do also have a full KTM sumo setup, forks, radial brake, 17" wheels, shock. Should be cool.
Anyways, I'm having trouble getting the bike to fire. When I bought it as a wreck, I had it running. I have the entire harness hooked up, but not getting voltage to the primary side of the coil. I read through the service manual and checked every reason, the last was replacing the ECU which I just did, no change. I have 12v to the black and white wires to ground, but the ground on the coil wire isn't there. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out, hopefully someone here has some ideas, cuz I'm out of em!!
Both my bike builds are located over on another forum. I don't know if that's bad form to link them so let me know and I can post up links.

Well I figured out the no spark situation, had neglected to ground the harness near the ECU. Grounded it and alls well. Especially after the new ECU I bought lol
I have some more things to discuss about the bike but I can't seem to get approved on here to post to the general forums.
Mods, little help here? Thanks
